In the present days, Indian track and field athletes are performing exceptionally better and making the country proud at the international levels. One such Indian athlete is Jinson Johnson; Johnson is an Indian middle-distance runner who participates in 800m and 1500m events.
Johnson was born on 15th March 1991, at Chakkittapara town in Kerala. He started his training at Kerala sports council hostel, Kottayam.
His excellent performance at the national level, made him join the Indian Army in 2009. His first international breakthrough came in 2015 when he won a Silver Medal at the Asian Championship, Wuhan.
Jinson also qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics, by clocking his personal best time at Bangalore which was 1:49:69.
Although he failed to make a mark at the Olympic Games but Johnson, never took a setback. In the 2018 Asian Games, he competed in both 800m and 1500 m.
Johnson scored a Gold Medal in the Asian Games in the 1500m event and Silver Medal in the 800m event. These medals made him hugely recognized in India overnight.

In 2018, Johnson also broke the national record of Sriram Singh in the 800m event, creating a record of 1:45:65 secs at the Senior State Athletics Championship.
Apart from these, he also won a Bronze Medal at the 2017 Bhubaneswar Asian Championship and in 2018 he was awarded Arjuna Award by the government of India.
In 2015, he was posted as a junior commissioned officer in Army but now he holds a rank Naib Subedar.
Jinson Johnson is a great medal prospect for India in the upcoming 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games and other international tournaments.
