Heena Sidhu: The Shooting Ace

In today’s world, women are excelling in almost every field including sports. The time when women are not allowed to take part in something has become a history now. One such girl who is making India proud in the field of shooting is Heena Sidhu. She was born on 29th August 1989. Heena has an excellent record in the field of shooting and in 2014 she became the first Indian pistol shooter to occupy the number one spot in the ranking of International Shooting Sports Federation. Her first national medal came in the form of a Gold Medal at the National Shooting Championship at Kerala. Her first International Medal came in the form of Bronze Medal at the 2007 Kuwait Asian Championship. In 2009 she participated in the World Championship in Beijing and secured a Silver Medal. While in 2010 she was the member of the Gold Medal-winning pair in the 10m air pistol event at the Delhi Commonwealth Games and she also won Silver Medal at the individual event. In the same year, she was also a member of the Silver Medal-winning 10m air pistol team at the Guangzhou Asian Games. In the year 2014, she completed her hat trick of medals at the World Championships when she won Silver Medal at the Fort Benning World Cup. She was also the part of the Bronze Medal winning team at the 25m Rifle Event in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Following her legacy of the international medals, she won a Gold Medals at the 2015 Kuwait Asian Championship and 2017 Brisbane Commonwealth Championship and she also won her second Gold Medal in World Cup in 2017 at New Delhi as a part of a mixed team. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, she added two more Commonwealth Games medals to her name in the form of Gold Medal at 25m pistol and Silver Medal at 10m Air Pistol.
